Improvised Sitcom • Sydney Fringe Festival 2026 • 5, 6 September 2026
$25.00 INC GST
Improvised Sitcom is the first show developed by our AOI ensemble 7 In A Lift, and premieres at Sydney Fringe Festival 2026 in September for two nights only, at the Factory Theatre in Marrickville. Improvised Sitcom is rated M (yes, really) and features up and coming improvisors from our advanced level classes as well as AOI alumni from Improctopus, The Impro-vestigators and Blanktown.
Every performance begins with the audience creating a brand-new 1970s television family with a modern twist, along with the household crisis threatening to unravel their seemingly perfect suburban lives. From awkward family dinners and neighbourhood rivalries to bizarre misunderstandings and increasingly ridiculous domestic disasters, no two episodes are ever the same.
Inspired by the classic family sitcoms of the 1970s, the performers improvise entire episodes live on stage, complete with retro TV tropes, emotional overreactions, suspiciously tidy endings, and escalating household chaos.
No secret survives intact. No problem survives simplicity. No roast dinner survives perfectly cooked. No dog survives as just the family dog…
Every disaster has a backstory.
Tickets are $20-25. Every show has several “sitcom” episodes so why not come to all both shows!
Cast includes Carmel Dowsett, Joshua Lloyd, Parisa Safari Nejad, Sarah Anstiss, Alex Gisby, Matt Cox and Richard Bennett (host/MC).
You can buy tickets from the Sydney Fringe Festival 2026 website, or from the Factory Theatre website.
